The Philip Lawrence Awards were established in honour of Philip Lawrence, the head teacher murdered outside the gates of his school. B&Q ‘Better Neighbour’ Grant Scheme

£9m for children and young people from ethnic minority backgrounds in Wales

A £9m package of grants to help children and young people from ethnic minority backgrounds in Wales achieve better educational attainment has been launched by the Welsh Assembly Government. Funding will be allocated directly to LEA’s and more information is available here.

Unclaimed Assets

Cash in unclaimed bank assets could be used to fund services to tackle financial inclusion under plans unveiled last week. Prime Minster Brown will introduce a bill to enable banks to transfer unclaimed assets in the next session of parliament.
