London Councils commissioning round update

London Councils, which brings together the 33 London Councils, has announced that it will launch rounds 3 and 4 of its Commissioning Programme on the 25th July 2007. This forms part of the £28 Million commissioning programme, used to purchase services from the voluntary and community sectors and replaces the previous grants bidding arrangements. The type of services previously purchased from the voluntary sector through the commissioning arrangements have included; assisting children living in poverty; helping the homeless and people with disabilities; giving people with disabilities the chance to participate in sports; improving the access to health and welfare rights advice for people from Black Minority Ethnic Migrant and Refugee communities; supporting victims of crime; preventing homelessness among young people; promoting recycling; and spreading the benefits of the 2012 Olympic games. The merging of the two phases will now be known as Phase 3/4. This will not affect the application process in anyway other than to bring together the two application windows into one. The closing date for the receipt of applications will be noon on Wednesday the 5th September 2007.
